Welcome to Geopower of America

Geothermal Power of America, Inc.

This company was recently organized for the purpose of developing a geothermal power site in Northern Nevada and one in San Bernardino County, California. The company plans to construct a 35 megawatt electrical power plant using geothermal energy at each site. Thirty five megawatts is 35 million watts of electric power.

The company has acquired geothermal sites from the Bureau of Land Management in the Cinnibar Creek area of Northern Nevada and the 320 acre McKinley Ranch located near Victorville CA. Both sites are known to have geothermal intensive hotspots and hot springs in the area.

One power plant near our Northern Nevada site is already producing and selling electricity to Nevada Power under a 20-year power purchase agreement. Geothermal energy takes advantage of very hot water that is close to the earth's surface. when brought to the surface and released from the earth's pressure, the 600 to 700 degree water flashes into steam. This steam is captured and turns steam turbines that create electrical power. After powering the turbine the water is returned back into the ground, where it is recycled to be used again.

The power companies are in great need of additional electrical power due to growing demand and expanding markets. Geothermal power is the very cleanest way of producing power and the cheapest. Geothermal costs only $45.00 for each million watts generated per hour. Nuclear, the second least expensive, costs $55.00 per million watt-hours.

Solar and wind devices cost about $125.00 per hour. Geothermal operates at 95% efficiency because the sun setting or the wind not blowing does not stop production. We don’t have a problem disposing of nuclear waste that continues to plague nuclear power facilities.

We are clean and do not leave a carbon footprint in the atmosphere. We do not cause additional global warming. We have a zero effect on the greenhouse problem.

All states are presently mandated to purchase at least 5% of their electricity from renewable sources. This number is expected to rise to 15% next year.

The U.S. Department of Energy gives huge grants and tax credits to geothermal companies for development and construction of renewable power plants. We are eligible and are registered to receive these grants and tax credits.
